Genting Group’s Malaysian casino resort might not be as attractive to Asean gamblers as it used to be due to stiff regional competition, according to research house Affin Hwang Capital Research. In its homeland, Genting operates the Resorts World Genting integrated resort, which is located in a mountainous region less than an hour’s drive. The Genting Poker Series is gearing up for the ninth edition of the tour and it is one of the busiest yet with 16 stop confirmed for the 2020 GPS. Twelve of the 16 scheduled GPS Main Events only cost £225 to enter yet feature a £35,000 guaranteed prize pool. The Genting Hong Kong Limited cruise ship subsidiary of Asian casino giant Genting Malaysia Berhad has reportedly announced that it is selling half of its interest in a subordinate that is currently developing a new waterfront hotel in Macau. It all began in 1965 with Genting Highlands Resort on the lush, tropical highlands of Malaysia. Our ambitious founder, the late Tan Sri (Dr.) Lim Goh Tong, transformed 10,000 acres of dense, impenetrable forest, 6,000 feet above sea level, into the largest resort in the world.
Today, this magnificent resort is called Resorts World Genting and is one of Malaysia’s most popular tourist destinations, attracting almost 20 million visitors a year.

You can choose from the resort’s five hotels, offering around 10,000 rooms in total. They include Maxims Hotel, Genting Grand, Resort Hotel, Awana and First World Hotel – one of the world’s largest hotels with 6,118 rooms.
There’s also a stunning casino, an 18-hole golf course, more than 200 dining and retail outlets, mega shows, business convention facilities and endless entertainment. All at this one resort, where the longest cable car system in Southeast Asia, spanning 3.38 km, whisks you to its breath taking hilltop location. In 2017 the world’s first Fox Studios theme park will open in Genting Highlands.
This highly acclaimed resort was just the beginning, however. Genting Malaysia has two other beautiful seaside properties, known as Awana Hotels & Resorts, and Genting’s gaming, leisure and hospitality business has grown across the world.

Genting now has several Resorts Worlds. These include Resorts World Manila in the Philippines, Resorts World Bimini in the Bahamas, Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore, Resorts World New York with Resorts World Las Vegas due to open in 2017.
